The patient dog eats the fattest bone
This saying is not strange to many of us and has been said by many of us on numerous occasions.
Leo Tolstoy once said 'the most powerful warriors are patience and time'. Patience I'll say is the ability to wait or to continue doing something despite difficulties. One thing I've come to understand is that there is no patience without time. Some of us have been in a difficult situation whereby if we were not patient, things could have gone the other way round, but in the process of being 'patient', it seemed to you like it will take forever to get out of such a situation...but when the situation that looked liked forever ended, we were happy. The forever it seemed like it took back then is the *time* which works correspondingly with patience.
At one point in life, we will need to be patient. As defined above as the ability to either wait or continue doing somethings through difficulties, patience requires waiting, it requires being expectant, it requires being optimistic about what you stand to gain at the finish line. The road will definitely be rough, but don't be discouraged, don't blame yourself and don't blame others. The rough roads are what I refer to as the test of time, they are what I call the test of patience, they are what I call the test of endurance. The road could have possibly been smooth, but since nothing good comes easy, they are put there to see how much you will fair in the test of time, patience and endurance.
Have a positive mindset of 'I will get to the finish line, no matter what' before setting out, prepare your mind to face certain hurdles, believe in yourself that you can overcome the hurdles and then strategise how to overcome them. Strive not to fail, rather strive to reach for the stars.
I leave you with the words of Harriet Tubman, who said 'Every great dream begins with a dreamer. Always remember, you have within you the strength, the patience and the passion to reach for the stars to change the world'.
