They never thought of this
When they ruled  us for about five centuries
They were too selfish
Even to think about our own needs

At the 'point of no return'
They led our ancestors, turn by turn
Not minding if the clothes they wore
Were torn or out of fashion

They took our ancestors to their land
Just to help work on their farmland
They let them sleep at their backyard
Not minding the harshness of the weather

They took them as slaves
And called the process 'slave trade'
They never saw our land as a place where good things can come from
But only something next to a junkyard

But because we are black
We take our stand,
Come against all trying to make us feel inferior
And show them what we've got

That the fact that we are black
Doesn't mean we can't be a shining star
We can represent Africa
And still be world class
